Finding your fit

A little preparation makes all the difference. Follow our measurement guide, then use the general size reference below to begin your sizing conversation.

Before you begin

Use a soft measuring tape and ask someone to help. Wear the undergarments you intend to wear with your outfit, without bulky clothing. Stand naturally, breathe normally, and keep the tape comfortably snug without pulling it tight.

Keep the tape level for measurements around your body. Record each measurement twice, using the same unit throughout.

Follow the numbered instructions. For a mini or midi skirt, stop measurement 6 at your desired hem instead of the floor.

How to measure

  1. Bust

Measure around the fullest part of your bust, passing the tape across your back. Keep your arms relaxed at your sides.

  2. Underbust

Measure around your rib cage, directly beneath your bust. This additional measurement may be requested for corsets and structured bodices.

  3. Natural waist

Measure around your natural waist, usually the narrowest part of your torso. Keep your stomach relaxed. A ribbon tied here can help you mark the starting point for your skirt length.

  4. Hips

With your feet together, measure around the fullest part of your hips and seat. Check from the side that the tape stays level.

  5. Height

Stand barefoot against a wall and measure from the top of your head to the floor. Record your intended heel height separately.

  6. Waist to hem

For a skirt, measure from your natural waist down to your desired hem while wearing your intended shoes. Have someone measure while you stand upright. For a full-length skirt, measure to the floor; for a mini or midi, measure to your preferred hem. Gown length may require a different starting point. Contact us for the instructions for your style.
